The Meaning Behind Our Name & Motto

Our name is inspired by the resilient tallgrass prairie, a landscape known for its beauty and incredible endurance. Native prairie grasses are unique because their visible growth above the surface relies entirely on a massive, hidden root system underneath. These roots often stretch twice as deep into the earth as the grass grows tall, allowing the plant to withstand harsh conditions, find nourishment, and grow incredibly strong.

Our motto, "Developing deep roots to achieve great heights," guides everything we do:

  • Developing Deep Roots: Just like native grasses, a child needs a strong underlying network. We focus on these invisible, foundational building blocks—sensory integration, motor skills, communication, and self-regulation skills.

  • Achieving Great Heights: By strengthening these underlying roots, we give children the stability, confidence, and resilience they need to build lasting strength, try new things, and reach their goals.

Meet Our Founder

Kaytee Beaver, OTR/L

Owner & Pediatric Occupational Therapist

As a dedicated pediatric occupational therapist with extensive experience in the local Manhattan, Kansas community, Kaytee founded Tallgrass Pediatric Therapy out of a deep passion for helping children and families thrive.

She designed this practice as a place where children would have fun, feel safe and supported, look forward to therapy, and know they are surrounded by a team that wants nothing more than to see each child succeed to their greatest potential. She believes true clinical progress happens when a child's therapy journey fully supports and champions the whole family.

Our Facility

We designed our clinic environment intentionally to balance clinical excellence with child-friendly comfort:

  • Interactive Sensory Gym: A dynamic space with specialized equipment to help children explore movement safely. The gym enhances body awareness, vestibular input, and motor planning through active play.

  • Private Treatment Rooms: Quiet spaces tailored for focused attention. These rooms minimize distractions during speech sessions, feeding evaluations, or focused developmental tasks.
